The National Press Club of Australia today hosted a special event ‘Enterprising Women – Building Australia’s army of female entrepreneurs’ with the founder of RedBalloon Naomi Simson, CEO of Business Chicks Olivia Ruello and CEO of Indigital Mikaela Jade.
The promo piece on the NPC website said, “New economic research from the nbn™ access network shows an increasing proportion of women are choosing to start their own businesses at a pace far outstripping their male counterparts. And in regional Australia, female entrepreneurship is injecting new lifeblood into rural economies.
Why is female entrepreneurship important to Australia? Why are more women choosing to become self-employed? How can we encourage today’s girls and young women to be business leaders of the future? And what are the lessons we can learn from successful businesswomen?”
The Enterprising women report was handed out at the NPC event. In the introduction Stephen Rue, CEO of NBN Co said, “It is exciting to see the real proof that connectivity over the NBN broadband access network is contributing to a boom in female entrepreneurship and flexible working in Australia”.
It was pointed out at the event that the NBN is playing an important role in the growth of homegrown businesses.
